Well it was a kiddy show and it never pretended to be anything else. Super Deformed is a very popular way to sell toys that have been on the shelf to long. There is SD Macross, SD Robotech (yes I know same thing) and tons of other Super Deformed minatures.

So it made sense to make a cartoon off of it. One of the positives of the series was that it was nicely done CGI. Some of the cleanest CGI i have seen on a cartoon or anime. But the downsides were lame stories and it was just kinda a stupid concept.

But if you think about it the one thing that the Gundam universe has done sucessfully is make right turns to what you expect. G Gundam is a great example of taking the Gundam Universe and doing something completly different with it. I consider myself a fan of G Gundam. But if you had told me what it was while i was watching Wing or Mobile Suit Gundam I would have laughed and never watched an episode. Im glad that I sat through all of it. If only to look at the Dutch entry and go "WTF?! Its a damned windmill"

Now Im sure im the only person on this forum who can say they read the Z and ZZ books. Not the manga or comics. The actual novels for the series.

SD Gundam is the best CGI you've seen in a television cartoon? Are you serious? I think I'll have to hit you with the quality stick. It comes from a tree that is hte cousin to the tree that the ugly stick comes from, in case you were asking.

Mr Speaker I'd like to strike that last reply i made about SD Gundam from the record

For YYH, did they ever had a movie out? If they didn't it would be a good idea to make one.

Yes, A movie did come out in Japan and did a wonder for the fan base. No, I can not tell you title or where to get it.

There were 2 or 3 YYH movies if I recall. Can't remember the name of the one I saw, but I'm sure Anime News Network can help you.

Ooo! Yu Yu Hakusho movies. Otaku powers activate!

The two domestically released Yu Yu Hakusho movies are:

Rescue Koenma (movie 1): Koenma is kidnapped and held for ransom. It's up to Yusuke and company to rescue him. I wouldn't really call this a movie because it's episode length (23 minutes).

Poltergeist Report (movie 2): You know of the three worlds in Yu Yu Hakusho: the living world, spirit world, and demon world. But there also used to be a fourth world called the Netherworld. Some demons want to recreate the Netherworld, at the cost of living world and spirit world. This is an actual movie: widescreen, 90 minutes, and pretty darn good as well.

Both of these movies are not done by the FUNimation cast. The voices are different in the dub, and they call Kuwabara "Kuwahara". It takes a little while, but you get used to it.

Otaku powers deactivate! ...Oh no, they're stuck on!

Wow, you must be familiar with some pretty awful animes. Might I recommend the Ah! My Goddess movie, or perhaps Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heavan's Door (domestically released as simply Cowboy Bebop: The Movie)?
Metropolis? Anything released by Studio Gibli? Vampire Hunter D and Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust? Akira, Appleseed 2004, Steamboy?
Hell, even the third Pokemon movie (and even Mewtwo Returns) was better than the first YYH movie.

Not to say that it was a bad movie, but it certainly wasn't a masterpiece. I'd put it right about next to Spriggan.

I wasn't impressed with Metropolis and didn't think the Cowboy Bebop movie was nearly as good as the TV show (regarding the latter: I think I would have enjoyed it much more if it has the same intro music as the show. That musice is always what put me in the mood for the show . . . )

However, go see Howl's Moving Castle. Its in theaters now. It is, hands down, the most beautiful movie I have ever seen. There's a cleverness in the animation. It's just . . . good. Go see it. THEN try to say that the Yu Yu movie is better while keeping a straight face.

As far as I know, they have yet to start a series and not finish it off (special events like Giant Robot Week aside).

Rurouni Kenshin, Case Closed, Lupin III, Knights of the Zodiac, Astro Boy, SD Gundam, Zoids: Fuzors...

-They finished Kenshin
-A.S. showed Case Closed and Lupin III and they love dropping shows before they're finished
-everything else was just bad or VERY bad (K.O.Z., Zoids Fuzors)

They finished 2 of the three Kenshin story arcs. There was one more story arc that, I am told, is not nearly as good as the rest of the series. But they did NOT finish Kenshin.

I'm positive that they finished Kenshin because I used to watch it every time it came on and I saw the last episose and all the preceding episodes. As far as I know the only Kenshin related thing they haven't showed is Samurai X because it's too bloody.
