Communism. Working for a more mediocre tommorow--for you and me.
I seriously think you could make socialism work if there weren't so many assholes in the world.

I vote both Democrat and Independent. Where does this put me? I'd vote for a republican if I found one i liked. Parties mean nothing anymore. And socialism can work btw. France is socialist and america is close.

Overall, I'm for the Labour Party (urrent government over in Blighty). However, their policies just seem to be getting worse and worse at the moment. I have a real aversion to the Conservative party, but like Fodder, I'd vote for a Tory MP if I liked the candidate. If I thought it would make any differnece I'd vote for the Liberal Democrats, but with the way our parliamentary system is set up they haven't got a snowballs chance in hell of getting into the Opposition, let alone government.

Thats not true. Bush is starting to feel the pinch of not finding Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. Congress is pissed they were lied to. And it might start to put a strain on the republicans. No vote is ever thrown away. I hate when people say it. If you feel that the Alien Mind Suckers party is good. Vote for them. The politicians see this and know things arent right. Look at what the 3rd parties did in the last could of politicial races. Dont think they lost. Because really they showed the politicians that we americans arent happy.

I disagree. I say you should all just not vote! Not like you're changing anything! You're vote doesn't matter, can't you see?!?!?!

And, of course, by you not voting, it makes my vote worth more.^_^ That I like. I really wish a strong opponet to Bush would emerge. Not gonna be hard to beat him either. His trying of the Trickle-Down-Theory to 'reinvigorate' the economy will crash said economy. Trickle down theory has NEVER worked, yet people keep trying it. And more presidents have lost re-election over the economy than anything else. Even if they find the WMDs, it'll be TOTALLY irrelevant.

From SNL a couple weeks back with Dan Ankroyd

"Hardball with Chris Matthews"

Matthews - "What would it take for the democrats to win this election?"

Ankroyd as some republic - "For the democrats to lower the voting age to 6 and nominate Sponge Bob Square Pants"

Nobruki its a simple idea really. And thankfully its our parents and granparents who believe in throwing away the vote. Its the ones from 35 and down who understand the power of the vote.

This is going to sound very very odd. Thank god MTV did rock the vote during the clinton adminstration. It made a huge dent that the democrats understand and the republicans can't tap

Just the opposite in my family...I still remember taking hell from the old man when I skipped a vote during my younger days, and the feeling of wanting to strangle my former bro-in-law when he accused me of "throwing away" my vote. Evil or Very Mad

Now if only it had taught them to think at the same time...instead of adding to the lemming population. Rolling Eyes

Political parties suck. Despite this, when I register to vote in september... Democrats will most likely get my vote. John Edwards in 2004 and 2008! Either a woman or a non-white man in 2012! RaR! But if Nader had a fighting chance... We need someone who isn't a Democrat or (evil) Republican running the country.

Fodder, so you know, his name is Nobuyuki. You keep spelling it blatantly wrong. ^_^

Parties DO suck. George Washington warned the counry that creating parties was a bad thing. What do we go and do? Start parties in the very next administration. Parties keep the powerful in power and the weak weak. NOT the way to ensure that good things actually get done. (Again, like Bush's tax cut for those that could afford to pay twice as much in taxes so as to take a little burden off of the people that can't even afford to heat their homes.)

And I'll vote for who I want to win, not for who I think will win. If everyone says "Well, Nader doens't have a chance, so I won't vote for him" then he never WILL have a chance. Half the people I talked to after last election said "I woulda voted for Nader, but I didn't think he had a shot." Man, if he got 34% of the vote he would have won. That's only 29% more than he got. That's only 14.5% of the US population. (This goes on the assumption that 50% of the people did not vote, and that the remainder of the vote was split evenly between Bush and Gore.)

I wonder if I can just shorten it to "Nobu" and save myself the spelling problems.

Nobu,
My mother taught me to vote in each election no matter how small. That each vote was important. And to exercise your rights as an american citizen. Its my father, there not together anymore. Hes very republican shes very democrartic, who says "Why throw away the vote?". Hes also the guys who says
"What music will your generation listen to when you get old? Everything you listen to is crap" But thats off topic
And he and I have had this discussion many times about the power of the vote. Do I think its enough to get things done? No. I think if you truly want to see something accomplished. You need to become part of the local government or party system and get invovled. But at least its a first step.

I, personally, think there's a good chance I'll run for some sort of office one day. I just get too pissed off at the crap that goes on in politics.
