Post subject: What kind of State of the Union was that??

Over the past hour, GB Jr has been babbling to the collected Congress. In that time, there were a total of 76 applause pause periods. That comes out to one break every 47 seconds. This can be summed up in one word: OMGWTF??
I took one full page of notes, but here are some highlights:
"Our resolve stands firm" - How can he say that when 48% of Americans do not condone military action?
"It is our duty to put . . . patients in charge of American medicine"
"A four-person family with an income of $40 000 would only pay $46 in taxes" - Tell me again how this will reduce the defecit?
"Mandates a 70% reduction in power plant emmissions" "Prevent wildfires" -- Did he take any concerns other than 'Clean Air' into consideration??
The one good thing - $1.2 Billion for fuel cell research
Segregated seating . . .
"Our calling is to make the world better"
"In an age of 'miraculous medicines,' nobody should have to hear those words [we can't help you]."
"To quickly make available vaccines for Botulism, E. Bola, anthrax" - WTF??
"The corpse [sic] of this nation does not depend upon the [UN]"
He reffered to Iraq as a "Vital Region."
He forgot that Weapons of Mass Destruction could be used to say STFO, or Stay The F*** Out.
Several times mentioned "Calm Unity." How is America united on this??
"What's good for tomorrow is even better for today"
Worst of all, every time he said the word "god", he got a standing ovation!!
So, was it good for you? _________________ Krogoth uses Berserk.

hmmm. The iraq issue is one which (if and when action is taken) will most likely involve the UK and various other international powers aswell, so its been a pretty hot topic for debate over here also.
I would like to make the point that, while i am undecided about the best course of action involving iraq, i do believe that doing SOMETHING is better than doing nothing at all. Bombing the **** out of Baghdad costing civilian lives in the name of protecting civilian lives elsewhere in the world is pure hypocracy and unacceptable. However, sitting back and letting an insane dictator build up a cache of chemical and biological weapons is also out of the question. At the end of the day, if there were a more simple (and cheaper ) alternative to military action, which achieved the same level of success, i am confident our respective governments (or at least mine) would look into it. In other words i havent QUITE lost my faith in democracy yet. So bassically im saying this: military action in iraq is not favoured but i dont want an anthrax bomb dropped on my baby cousins school, therefore i believe something should be done. |

Politics aren't my thing.
I spent the two hours watching His & Her Circumstances and Smallville.

Urge to becomd president, rising . . .
I didn't watch. Why? Because I already know that every speech made in that level of politics has the facts twisted so that they look good for the side giving the speech. A speech is supposed to convince, and I don't feel like being brainwashed by some cunning, coniving, and currpt polotician, whoever he may be.
George Washington was right. Political parties are a bad thing. So are foreign entanglements. Everything we do outside ouer own coutnry pisses people off. If we have this much hatred directed at us, then gee, ya think maybe we're doing something wrong? Cuz I do. Hatred doesn't spontaneously appear. _________________ anime is teh s uck

correction: everything we do pisses somebody off. Be it only one or the whole world. Most countries (especially the third world ones, the citizens anyway) would rather have our help in whatever is needed than not. There will always be at least one pissed off person, for ever pissed off person there is two ro three who range from are happy to indifferent aboutt he same action. _________________ "Veni. Vedi. I enjoyed it- mainly because my dad was doing an MST3k to it through the majority. He's an actual military officer who's a Democrat.
Bush is going to turn this country into a hell hole... While yes, it seems that invading Iraq is beoming more justified (and the prospect of war is making me... excited), his domestic policy is killing me.
The real good thing was Gary Locke's response. The d00d is totally awsome. If he runs for reelection next year, I know where my vote for governor of this state is going. _________________ Ice cream has this erotic sense to it- kinda like the one choclate and strawberries have.

Bush is Chaney's Puppet. Every time he would drink water Bush stopped talking. Why is he fighting so bad for the middle eastern oil when he's supposedly gonna do this hydrogen fuel cell BS?
Yeah that clapping annoyed the hell out of me.

He's a Texas Oil Tychoon what do you expect. Even so, it is true that even with fuel cells we'll need Petroleum to make things like plastic and that has to come from somewhere. Though for the time being, until feul cells and other alternative energy sources can be perected and more widely marketed we can't afford to have the world's largest Oil reserves run by Terrorists and Evil Dicatators. _________________ Bang. |
