Soapbox Witness the rebirth of a legend.

Back in early 2008, a new Toonami fansite, Toonami Fan, was created and was quickly sworn in to the Inner Circle Alliance (which we and our parent site are long-time members of). Unfortunately, since it had joined so late and Toonami was cancelled later that year, the website mostly faded into collective obscurity.

However, the site is now bouncing back. Thanks to a plug on Toonami's official website, the site and its forum have been given a complete overhaul and new articles are being added. Check it out now!

  Soapbox Ollie Johnston 1912-2008 RIP

" ... and then there were none."

For over three decades now, animation fans have been quietly counting down. As first John Lounsbury, and then Les Clark slipped away. Followed by Woolie Reitherman, Milt Kahl and Eric Larsen. Then Marc Davis, Ward KimballFrank Thomas. And today word came out of Sequim, WA. that Ollie Johnston -- the last of Walt's Nine Old Men -- had passed away at the age of 95.

  Soapbox Naruto...TV-Y?

Ed Note: If you are gullible, feel free to believe the following story:

It seems Viz has plans for Naruto outside Toonami.

An anonymous source has provided some information about the production of Naruto's dub. It turns out they're looking to give Naruto as wide an audience as possible, including airing it on multiple blocks on Cartoon Network and eventually in syndication after Cartoon Network's contract expires.
Unfortunately, this means heavy cuts and plot changes to meet the "lowest common denominator".

Naruto and his friends still make their way through ninja school, but will emphasize peaceful resolutions to problems they encounter.

A screen grab was leaked to us by the same contributor of an edit early on in the series. In the original Japanese version, Naruto stabbed his hand in an effort to show his seriousness about an upcoming mission. In the Americanized/edited version, Naruto is shown angry about his mother's choice of lunch.

Original Naruto Frame.
Leaked edited frame.

No announcements have been made, but are expected within the next few weeks.

Soapbox Ok, I Swear this is the last one. Roy and Gold weigh in.

I would have tacked this on to the last news post but I fealt it just would have been lost in there.

"While it has taken three years to reach this point, our efforts to remove Michael Eisner as CEO of the Walt Disney Company have finally succeeded. Even the Disney Board, which has proven unresponsive to its shareholders, recognized that it had to take this action after our campaign which resulted in a resounding 45% No Confidence Vote on Michael Eisner last year."

Soapbox Nightly News in Gotham: Rupert Thorne found dead.
