Dragonball GT Vol. 7
First of all, to those who do not like GT, STOP RIGHT THERE!! Do not read any farther. It will only make your reviews look stupid.
Now, if you claim to be an anime fan, and do not know what Dragonball is, you need to go back to school. Fast. The Dragonball Trilogy is the most popular, and possibly longest-running anime series in Japan, with DBGT being the last, and least popular (due to the "rumors" that Toriyama had nothing to do with GT, which are untrue). And, for some reason, those that don't like GT make up stupid rumors about it (like Gohan not having to go Super Saiyan after the Mystic Powerup, which was never exactly stated in Z, though it was "hinted at").
Now, for the review.
The story is simple, and easy to get into due to the episode flashbacks at the beginning of every episode, but gets dragged out for far too long, thanks to the stanards created by Z. The fight has been going on since Vol. 6, and will go on as far as Vol. 8 before the battle ends. Goku powers up, Baby powers up farther, Goku uses a "last-ditch effort," it fails, and Baby appears to be on top of things. End of volume.
The animation is a mix between good and bad. For those who wanted it, Super Saiyan 4 is finally here, and the close-ups look really good, thanks to the original sketches by Toriyama (who Toei asked for the original story). For those who didn't like it, there's plenty to nag at because of the detail errors in the best parts of the fight.
The sound... for those who hated the Japanese BGM, the English dub has heard your cries, and have professionally handled the music. A new theme song, in the form of a rap, takes "Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku's" place, and the BGM is now guitars and dramatic actiony-tunes.
With all that in place, I give DBGT Vol. 7 a 7 out of 10. It is pretty good, but gets confusing due to some plot holes created early in GT, and the story is far too long. But, thanks to FUNimation's genius, it is handled like professionals, and children (and, no doubt, fans of the original GT) will love it.
