Almost started bouncing around the house when I saw it a few days ago.
But...
The Impulse looks kinda bland. Reminds me of the V2 from Victory Gundam, but with less character. Hopefully Impulse will be the only poor looking Gundam in Destiny, as the ones in SEED were great. _________________ Ice cream has this erotic sense to it- kinda like the one choclate and strawberries have.

Yeah, Impulse doesn't really look very good to me. But like most Gundam Series, there will be a major upgrade about half way through.

The bland/recycled designs in SEED and SEED2, are there because Sunrise must think Kunio Okawara is god or something. He's done A LOT of gundam designs which kind of well...... Saps the creativeness out of him. I say they should hire Hajime Katoki for SEED2, and give us some nice original designs!
Katoki has been responsible for the incredible Endless Waltz designs, the GP03 Dendrobium, the Devil Gundam, some 08th MS Team work, and has re-designed each mecha for the HGUC model releases.

If that were to happen, that would be good, as the Endless Waltz gundams are easily the best (at least in my opinion). Unfortunately, this doesn't look like it's going to happen. _________________ The only truth that realy exists is the truth within the mind of the individual and the way the individual sees the world...

I don't particularly think that some of these, so-called, "bland" mecha designs are a bad thing. Look at the RX-79, for crying out loud! Frickin innovative tech but not exactly drop-dead gorgeous. RX-178 "Gundam mk.II"? It was the same damn design, but it was far improved over the original. Fact is, not every new mech design is going to be a JDG-00X or a MSN-04. That's just practical. Look at how much our own real-life vehicle design has progressed over the years. The guts and bolts and tech may be brand-spanking new and cutting edge, but the outside has changed relatively little between individual steps. That's just practical design, and that's why it works for Gundam. It's a practical show about a probable future with practical people in a world gone mad. Besides, you can't expect every new design to be built completely from the ground up, because the designers get burned out, their ideas dry up, and then all the creativity gets sapped from the brains of those in charge. And what are we left with? SD Gundam. _________________ Rycel's Death Count on this board: 7

Exactly....... Designers get burned out, and Kunio Okawara has been on the bill since Mobile Suit Gundam (except Turn-A Gundam), whereas Hajime Kotoki has been left with mere redesigns, and assistance..... Only a few designs are originally his.
It's not that I don't give Okawara any credit, but I think that he shouldn't be in charge of designing mecha for a while.
Afterall, some of my favorite designs came from Katoki! (Of course some have originated from Okawara)
