Genshiken is an awesome awesome anime. Go watch it now. Stop reading. Go. Now. Any description I give would only serve to slow your viewing of this glorious culmination of an anime-viewing sub-culture.
Really, not even Azumanga has had me identify with it on such a personal level nor made me laugh so hard. This is the funniest anime I have ever seen, and one of the more brilliant.
Go forth! Spread the word!
Or maybe this is all just the 12:30am after only a few hours of sleep talking... _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

Whoa! Slow down there, Coffee Master.
You must explain to us what it's about first before we fulfill your prophecy in the Book of Ages. _________________ Toonami visual schedule - UPDATED AUGUST 2, 2015 |

After watching Genshiken, life itself will make sense.
Basic plotline: the adventures of a group of hardcore otaku (note the use of otaku, not "fan" ) at a Japanese college. They have all the stereotypical characters plus some weird ones. And even a hater of all otaku-ish things who refuses to say that she's actually interested.
It does require some basic knowledge of the world of Japanese cartoons (and related subjects), but much like Trekkies or Otaku no Video (though Genshiken isn't a documentary at all), it'll either make you proud to be part of a weird fringe culture or make you laugh at pathetic people who have no lives.
And there's a manga available as well. Two volumes out now, third one coming at the end of october. _________________ Ice cream has this erotic sense to it- kinda like the one choclate and strawberries have.

Hmm...but is it better than(and thus should be purchased before) Comic Party? I've been thinking about picking that series up for a while now. Speaking of Genshiken, how's the English dub? |

No idea and no idea. All I've seen are fansubs, and I've yet to see comic party. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

I can understand wanting a dub for something along the lines of a Gundam series, Pokemon, One Piece, etc... But a dub for a show where the point is that it's horribly Japanese... THat doesn't make any sense. Yes there is a dub, but I suspect it'll lose a lot in translation. Think of what a dub of a horribly American show like Dallas or the Beverly Hillbillies. Or that god-awful redneck-promoting Dukes of Hazzard. You just can't dub some things into other languages. _________________ Ice cream has this erotic sense to it- kinda like the one choclate and strawberries have.

Oh, yeah!
And try this on if you're curious about the English dub. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

Hey, you have to love a series where one of the main characters admits openly that he owns no traditional porn involving real women.
Oh, he owns tons of porn. Just none involving a real woman in any fashion. _________________ Proud creator of the Wikipedia RX-78 mobile suit series article.
