DreamWorks has announced that due to the amazing increase in popularity for the up and coming animated feature film Shrek 2, the computer animated movie will be released in theaters two whole days earlier. Instead of opening on Friday May 21st as scheduled, it has been reported that the film will be released instead on Wednesday May 19, 2004. |

The first one is one of my all time favorite movies. However, I'm worried a sequel might ruin it. More often than not, Sequels ruin things. Or Triquels. Examples of good sequels: Toy Story 2, Back to the Future 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. Examples of bad sequels: TMNT: 3, Back to the Future 3, Shanghai Knights.
So it'll either rock the casba, or suck. I'm not sure I'm willing to risk it. _________________ anime is teh s uck

I can't wait for cg movies to "crash and burn" I just hope anime doesn't take over it's place and top dog. PErsonally I would like american animation to remain #1 here, I would however like the industry here to take a few pages from the japanese to better improve the current situation it is all in. |

I don't want CG to 'crash and burn', as I love it to death. I'm just terribly dissapointed that it's killing hand-drawn stuff. I'd like both to thrive. _________________ anime is teh s uck

when I say "crash and burn" I don't mean going down in flames as I do people realising what it really is, a fad, nothing special just a different medium for animation and that traditional is just as viable. |

I'd have to agree with you here. The previews aren't doing the movie much justice. They gave Donkey way too much exposure.

I hope Shrek 2 isn't as bad as the previews make it out to be. I'm worried, too. |

I saw it but some medication kicked in about 30 minutes into it and well... I just couldn't retain much about it except for the fact three things: it was good, they didn't reuse jokes (Except one which was dileberatly not funny). Only thing I can say is that the same problem persisted from the first one to the second... that being the lack of effort in any characters outside of the main ones. The textures weren't as good, the modeling wasn't as good and the animations just didn't match up. I'm not saying that they weren't better than the original Shrek, they were alot better but lets take a quality scale of 1-5 on this. The first one the bg characters had a rating of 1 (in terms of tecture, modeling, and animation) while the main characters had a 3. In second one the bg characters were more like a 3 and the main were a solid 5. A big improvment but just still to big of a gap. |
