Post subject: Time Warner Reconstruction (UPDATE: Forget it, Carl!)
Could someone explain to me what exactly this means for Cartoon Network, is it something similar to when Turner got a hold of the network or is it something else entirly?

Nothing.
It's just another Wall Street money-grab attempt by a guy who made his fortune by doing the exact same thing at other companies. Successful or not, it would have no impact on CN day-to-day operations. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Thanks, I was worried Toonami was going to get dumbed down even more.
According to Maxie Zeus (the major speculative stuff starts at post #4), Carl Icahn wants to separate the long-merged Time, Inc. and Warner Bros. His post, as follows:
Quote:
Press reports indicate he wants TW to sell its cable systems and publishing arm (Time, People, Entertainment Weekly, etc.) and buy back stock. Basically, the company would be left with Filmed Entertainment (Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, The WB), Cable Networks (CNN, HBO, TCM, Cartoon Network) and AOL.
Carl Icahn, who is on a mission to raise Time-Warner's share price, today met with the company's Chairman and CEO, Richard Parsons, for what the billionaire investor described as a "lively exchange of ideas."
Icahn and a group of hedge funds are seeking to convince Time-Warner to offload its cable business and buy back $20 billion worth of stock. Time-Warner spokesman Ed Adler told the New York Times that Icahn and Parsons "had a frank and open exchange of views." Parsons reportedly made clear to Icahn that “the board and management are committed to moving as aggressively as appropriate on its current course to create and deliver long-term value for all of the company's shareholders."
Icahn said in a statement, "At the end of the meeting, we both observed that we had, at the very least, one thing in common: We both believed Time-Warner was meaningfully undervalued and that we both wanted very much to rectify this situation. We agreed to communicate again shortly."
I'll ask what I was thinking in response to your post in the ATHF thread:
What's your point?
Icahn's talking about spinning off the Time-Warner Cable division, not the cable programming networks. That was stated in the NYTimes article in your frontpage news story.
It still has no effect on Cartoon Network's operations. _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

The reason for my quote in the ATHF thread was because I felt the same way about the Dr. Weird openings. That's the way some forum-goers signify that they agree with the person they're quoting.
The point about my latest post in this thread was because we got some new updated information about the subject. Also... $20 billion in stock? That says something right there. _________________ Toonami visual schedule - UPDATED AUGUST 2, 2015
