I don't understand why toonami cant put it uncut and change the rating.. yeah maybe soccer moms will get pissed but hey its nto THEIR fault your letting your kid watch something thats TV14 of M rated huh?
STOP WHINING!
1) Toonami programming is aimed at 11-14 year-olds (more or less), they're following the guidelines the network forces them to use. Should they have aired EVA on Toonami? I don't know.
2) Do you really expect parents in this day and age to take personal responsibility for raising their own kids??! _________________ "When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."- C.S. Lewis

The funniest part about this thread is that all the nay-sayers are refusing to listen to logic and are instead relying solely on their inherent otaku-ness. I like this thread. I makes me happy. Cuz I laugh. And I like laughing. And it's not with you. It's at you. _________________ anime is teh s uck

I'm with you 100% on that statement. Well, maybe 90-95%. the other 5-10% is crying do to the inherent moronicness and stupid ass....stupidity of everyone who's been whining. Oh boo hoo hoo! They made edits that didn't majorly effect the storyline! Boo hoo hoo! They covered up the nudity! boo hoo hoo! It's the only chance I have to see naked girls! That's what it sounds like. _________________ "Veni. Vedi. Spooki." - Julius Caesar

WELCOME TO THE NITPICKING CORNER
Who else noticed that they showed Nadesico stuff during the Daiguard program? This raises the question: did they not have any of the Daiguard eye-catches and end credits, or did some guy just press the wrong button? In any case, somebody is going to get called into the boss' office tomorrow.
Does this have any bearing on the whole "edits" argument? Absolutely not. It's just fun to blow way out of proportion all the little imperfections and errors that television and movies make. Besides, I think that "edits" whole argument is all over but the shouting (and that's all that it seems to be now). Don't like the edits? "'Tough titty,' said the kitty when the milk ran dry." Like the edits? Okay... _________________ Rycel's Death Count on this board: 7

so let's see:
- toned down anime instead of what was understood to be uncut anime
- ads when we thought there'd be none
- credits crammed down to half a screen and dubbed over with a toonami ad
- monday's gigantor screwup (part 3 airing during dragonball and after part 4)
- thursday's re-use of nadesico promos over dai-guard, coupled with repeating gigantor episodes
you know what though? this had to be the coolest week of toonami for me since the early 2001 lineups with outlaw star and big o...seeing eva on tv was enough of a thrill to offset the fact i've already seen it, nadesico and dai-guard were great shows that i wanna see more of soon, robotech was pretty cool, though i don't know much about it, and gigantor had an appeal all it's own...
all the nay-sayers should've focused on the good stuff this week offered, because it seriously offset any negatives that come to mind (i'm still a bit peeved about the crammed closing credits, but i'll live)
i think with dbz closing, yu yu hakusho coming (and possibly continuing), and above all, the kenshin aquisition, i may be watching/taping toonami more than ever...
...figures i was just starting to get this "life" after so long too... _________________ "Life's a journey, not a destination..." -Aerosmith ('Amazing')

I would like to make one final complaint about what they did with Eva:
WAAAH! No "Cruel Angel Thesis!" I'm quite disappointed by that, it's a great song . . .
I do understand why CN showed GRW edited, but I still don't understand (from an otaku standpoint -- Now that I know about the significance of February ratings, I can see why they decided to hype the big Toonami time slot) why they had to show it at such a time that it would require editing.
Spook, you raise a good point. I sincerely doubt that Cartoon Network would/will show Evangelion. Certainly if they do, it will be on Adult Swim, when fewer Christians and soccer moms are likely to be watching. Even so, there is no guarantee that they will show it unedited. Ah, well, I believe it's moot for now. _________________ Krogoth uses Berserk.
